Tofino Day 1: Ferry Trip & Beach

We took a trip to Tofino, B.C. last year for our anniversary. It is a wonderfully beautiful, wild place on the west side of Vancouver Island. Standing a on beach, listening to the roar of the surf, and witnessing a marvelous sunset, we decided this would be a place we would come back to yearly with the girls. And after a good but challenging school year, we were both really looking forward to getting back to Tofino this June. We piled the girls and our gear in the car and set off on our first adventure of the summer of 2012. 

Grace continues to be just as happy as can be.

We made it! After 8 hours on the road and water, we set up camp at Green Point Campground in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

We could hear the surf pounding in the distance. It was finally time to head down.

Harvest Time

Brian added a few strawberry plants to the side yard and Luna has been eagerly awaiting the first ripe fruit.  After checking the plants daily for red strawberries, she hit the jackpot today and enjoyed her first "fresh off the vine" berry.  Yum! Hopefully the rest of us will get the opportunity to try some soon.....

We definitely have a couple of water babies.  Any opportunity for filling the pool is seized by Luna and Gracie happily joins in.  Right after getting home from school, the girls eagerly strip down and hop in for a little pre-dinner soak!

Father's Day at the Zoo!

We celebrated Father's Day at the Woodland Park Zoo.  Emily graciously watched the girls on Saturday night while we had an intellectual evening out (and got to see Stephen Hawking!) and allowed us to crash at her place with the girls.  After a breakfast of coffee and delicious homemade scones we headed off to the zoo and a visit with some of our favorite critters.
