"Baaa" "Baaa"

We've been working on a lot of sounds. Sheep's sound is the one that took first.

August 14 - 16 Hello McCall!

After Spokane, we headed to McCall to see Cathy and Donnie. We were greeted with a wonderful tri-tip bbq and Luna had green beans for the first time. Looks like she approved. Uncle Donnie also cut up some grapes and she wolfed those down.

Aunt Cathy rocked Luna to sleep.

We had LOTS of furry guests while we were there.

On Saturday we hiked up to Lake Josephine in the Payette National Forest.

There was a fire in the mid 90's and mother nature is gradually re-greening the area. It was lovely.

Lake Josephine

"Oma, thanks for this great new outfit. I love it!"

Back in the car and ready to head home.

But first we had to check out Burgdorf Hot Springs.

This cat had definitely seen better days. It was still breathing though.

We got a great deal on an "up and coming" vacation property.

Sunday morning...ready to say good-bye. :-( Thanks for taking such good care of us Cathy and Donnie. We love you.

Luna is reading her books on her own a lot now. So fun to watch.

We stopped at Central Washington University in Ellensburg for a bite to eat and for some play time. It was a long drive home and Luna was being a trooper, as usual. Raisins are a new favorite.

Organic "O's" are still number one.

Back in the car and ready to head home. Nothing like some Hop On Pop to make a long car ride seem shorter.

It's been a great summer. All told, Luna visited 9 states and traveled almost 5,700 miles! She lived out of a backpack for 30 days, and she did it all in her fantastic Luna way. We are very, VERY lucky to have you little one.

August 7 -14 Hanging with Friends and ANOTHER Trip

I can't figure this software out, so I'll just write down here. Anyway, you'd think we would have learned by now. This is the second time Miss Luna has gotten hold of the clothes bin and promptly emptied its contents onto the floor and into her crib. As you can see, she looks mighty proud of herself, too. "Look what I did, Daddy!!"

Then it was out to the living room to play with Gus or "Dis" as I think I hear her saying. She loves him to death and squeals with delight when she hears him or sees him coming. He seems to like her, too, and even tolerates her pulling handfuls of fur out of him.

Later that day, Marcus called. "Hey baby, what's shakin'? You want to come over to my crib?"

He was anxiously anticipating her arrival.

So she stripped down and we all headed upstairs to the play room.

We can always take a break for Dr. Seuss.

Then it was time to put on jammies and read one last bedtime story.

Luna met a new friend, Cole, this week, too! They posed for pictures.

For about a minute. Then it was time to party!

So much partying makes Luna tired. Mommy and Daddy get tired, too, but how on earth is this comfortable? It is a common sleeping position these days.

August 11-13: Yet ANOTHER road trip. This time to Spokane or Spokangeles or Spocompton or Spoklahoma or Spokanistan as all the different t-shirts said. Priceline ROCKS. We stayed at the Doubletree downtown on the river.

Walks are our favorite. We have become quite attached to our new back pack. Daddy and Luna got all ready and went for a walk by the river and around downtown. I put on my cool cosmonaut hat for the occasion. Then we headed out. It was a great day.

North Cascades Institute

Mommy was at the North Cascades Institute for a grant meeting August 3-7, so we went to visit her for a couple of days. It was a lot of fun. Have you ever been to this place? If not, you have to check it out! We stayed at the Learning Center which is situated on Diablo Lake. Our first night there we took a walk out on the dam. Wow!

The second day we were there, we went for a hike on the Sourdough Creek Trail. I was excited to get up and get going. Do you like my SWEET purple PJ's? I'm still growing into them.

I can't believe they make me wear this giant, pink hat. Ugh! Riding in the backpack is fun though.

The forest was gorgeous!

There are 2 shelters like this along the trail. NCI uses them during some of their classes and workshops. Nice shot, Daddy.

A gold finch (I think) came to visit us on our hike. He hung around singing and chirping for quite a while.

Okay, seriously, how cute am I?

When we got to the overlook, there were some really beautiful views.

My favorite was Pyramid Peak. Check it out!
