Luna's First Camping Trip

Luna's first camping trip coincided with the official unofficial opening of camping season: Memorial Day Weekend. We finally got out of Bellingham at 5:00 PM Friday for the 4 hour trek over the Cascade Mountains into the Methow Valley. This glorious drive is Washington State at its finest: fast moving rivers, lakes a plenty, mountain passes in the sky, deep snow, jagged peaks, and luscious, fertile valleys. We arrived at Falls Creek (or was it Bald Creek? - they sound a lot alike, you know) a little after 9:00. With lots of help from Jenny, Mike, and Marcus, camp was all set up, the fire was roaring, and beers were opened. Ahhh, this is the life. Wait, what the *&^%$ is THAT?

Daddy and Luna are very happy to be sitting in front of the fire.

I wonder what would happen if...

Oh yaaaa, baby. THAT'S what I'm talking about!!

But...I don't WANT to go to sleep!

Look, Luna, Mommy is sleeping. You can do it, too!

Daddy loves waking up in the morning before everyone else. Just me, my coffee, the fire, and the wonderful sights and sounds of nature.

Marcus is a pro.

"Mommy! Time to get up!"
